Show Caves & Canopy Treetop Walk With Mulu Marriott Resort Stay
Overview
Embark on a 4 Days 3 Nights adventure in Mulu National Park, Sarawak, exploring some of the park’s most famous natural attractions. Visit the Show Caves including Deer Cave, Garden of Eden, and Lang Cave, where impressive limestone formations and the spectacular bat exodus can be observed. Continue with a longboat journey along the Melinau River to Batu Bungan Penan Settlement, followed by visits to Wind Cave and Clearwater Cave, two of the most well-known caves in Mulu National Park featuring striking rock formations and underground river systems.
The experience also includes a guided rainforest trek and the Mulu Canopy Walk, a suspended walkway offering views of the rainforest from above and opportunities to spot wildlife. This itinerary unites cave exploration, river travel, and canopy treetop experiences in Mulu National Park, while staying at a longhouse in the Park’s HQ or the luxurious Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa, providing a convenient base for discovering one of Sarawak’s most remarkable natural landscapes.

DAY 1 - Arrival / Deer Cave / Lang Cave / Garden of Eden / Bat Exodus

Upon arrival at Mulu Airport, transfer to your accommodation for check-in at Park HQ or Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa.

Enjoy lunch at the park café before gathering at 1400 Hrs for a safety briefing with your local guide.

Begin a 3km guided walk along raised plank walks through the rainforest to the cave area. Explore the famous Deer Cave, one of the world’s largest cave passages and home to over 3 million Wrinkle-lipped bats and numerous swiftlets.

Inside the cave, continue towards the lush Garden of Eden to see the unique Adam and Eve’s Shower, where water cascades approximately 30m into the river below.

Continue to Lang Cave, known for its beautiful stalactites, stalagmites, and limestone shawl formations.

In the evening, witness the spectacular Mulu bat exodus, where millions of bats spiral out of Deer Cave into the sky.

Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2 - Batu Bungan Penan Settlement / Wind Cave / Clearwater Cave

After breakfast, gather at 08:00 Hrs at the resort lobby or Park HQ before boarding a longboat along the Melinau River.

Stop at Batu Bungan Penan Settlement, a handicraft market operated by the Penan community where you can browse traditional handicrafts and optionally try the blowpipe activity.

Continue to Wind Cave, known for its cool breeze and striking limestone formations, before visiting Clearwater Cave, one of the longest cave systems in the world (over 220 km). Climb approximately 200 steps to view the rare Monophyllaea pendula, an endemic plant species found only in Mulu.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at Clearwater Rest Hut and relax by the crystal-clear river. Swimming is allowed at the designated area outside the cave.

Return by longboat to your accommodation. Free time in the afternoon to explore Mulu National Park trails at your own pace.

DAY 3 - Mulu Canopy Walk / Rainforest Kayaking

After breakfast, proceed to Mulu National Park HQ for the Canopy Walk exploration. Guests must register 15 minutes before the scheduled time slot (07:00 Hrs / 08:30 Hrs / 10:00 Hrs / 10:30 Hrs / 12:30 Hrs).

Begin with a 45-minute guided rainforest trek, followed by the 420-metre Mulu Canopy Walk, suspended 25 metres above the forest floor. The entire exploration covers approximately 6 km and offers views of the rainforest canopy, limestone cliffs, and river below. Wildlife sightings may include macaques, flying lizards, and rainforest birds.

After the walk, enjoy free time and lunch at your own expense.

In the afternoon, guests may join the complimentary rainforest kayaking activity at 15:30 Hrs. Paddle from Park HQ to Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa along the river for approximately 20–30 minutes, surrounded by the rainforest landscape. The activity is subject to weather and water level conditions.

DAY 4 - Departure from Mulu

- Notes for late arrival on Day 1:
- For arrivals after 13:00 Hrs, lunch will be changed to packed lunch.
- Guests should be prepared to begin the tour immediately upon arrival, with hotel check-in taking place after the tour.
- Please pack a separate day bag for easy access upon arrival and plan for your own lunch before departing for Mulu.
- We recommend that at the end of this tour, you fly from Mulu to Miri/Kuching with an additional night stay in either city to maximise your holiday. This is due to the unfavourable flight timings from Mulu back to Kota Kinabalu.
- Kindly note that all guests are advised to pack extra clothing in their carry-on baggage should there be any unforeseen circumstances upon arrival in Mulu.
